Medium White Speckled Side-handle
Medium White Speckled Side-handle
I threw this side-handle teapot on the wheel using a speckled stoneware claybody that I’ve been working with for the last 20 years. I fired it to cone 11 in a reduction atmosphere, allowing the oxygen-depleted flame to interact with the minerals in the surfaces of the pots to create subtle shifts in tone and texture. Each surface holds a quiet record of this process—organic and unpredictable—bringing a subtle wabi-sabi element into the tea ceremony. The exterior is finished with a white speckled glaze that softens the form while revealing the clay’s natural character underneath. Inside the pot, I left the clay unglazed so it will develop a patina over years of steeping, deepening the connection between the vessel and your tea practice.
Balanced and comfortable to hold, this teapot weighs 10.7 oz when empty. With a capacity of 250 ml, it is ideal for solo tea practice or intimate sessions. The side-handle form is intended for bowl tea ceremony or simply for everyday ritual.
