The side-handle form is intended for bowl tea ceremony or simply for everyday ritual. The handle turns naturally in the wrist, index finger resting on the lid.

Quail egg finish. Result of a cone 10/11 reduction firing. The reduced atmosphere pulls and darkens iron particles mixed into the stoneware clay. They read like the dots on a quail egg when they're pulled through the matte white glaze. Each piece carries the record of where it stood in the kiln. The same form, placed differently, comes out a different piece. The atmosphere does its own work.
