Large Wooden Side-handle Teapot

$750.00

I threw this side-handle teapot on the wheel using a dark stoneware claybody. I fired it to cone 11 in a reduction atmosphere, allowing the oxygen-depleted flame to interact with the minerals in the surfaces of the pots to create subtle shifts in tone and texture. Each surface holds a quiet record of this process—organic and unpredictable—bringing a subtle wabi-sabi element into the tea ceremony. Inside the pot, I left the clay unglazed so it will develop a patina over years of steeping, deepening the connection between the vessel and your tea practice.

For the handle, I chose this piece from my collection of wood gathered over the years—often while hiking or after a surf session. Sometimes I find a piece that inspires me to throw a pot to match it, and other times I wait until the vessel is complete before selecting the handle. Either way, the process is always deliberate and creates a unique pot. After choosing the right piece of wood, I carve and sand it so it fits precisely, offering a comfortable grip and a smooth, balanced pour.

Balanced and comfortable to hold, this teapot weighs 15.4 oz when empty. With a capacity of 650 ml, it can serve 10+ people. The side-handle form is intended for bowl tea ceremony or simply for everyday ritual.
