XL lefty wooden side handle boiling vessel

XL lefty wooden side handle boiling vessel

This very special vessel is not for just anyone. It is a very large piece and can be used as a small kettle or a large teapot for regular infusions, or boiling tea. Due to the size the grip either requires two hands or for the thumb to be on the button. It is thrown to be a bit thicker to help with thermal shock of heat source, and weighs 1.3lbs when empty.

Made from flameware, this vessel can be heated directly on charcoal, gas, or electric heat sources. With any flameware teapot, it is critical to avoid sudden temperature changes. Water inside helps buffer changes — never heat an empty teapot or place a hot teapot on cold surfaces. Orient the handle away from flames to prevent burning.

The wooden handle is sourced from branches and roots foraged while spending time in nature surfing and hiking. In all of his work, Michael allows the materials to lead. He will either find a piece of wood that inspires the shape of a teapot body, or complete a vessel before selecting its handle from his library of branches and roots. Each piece is then worked and finished to fit precisely, offering both beauty and balanced functionality.
